At our reception, should we sit with our parents or our friends?
Sitting with parents at the rehearsal dinner is fine. At your reception you probably will sit with friends, family and the other guests. You will be moving from table to table to talk with your guests.
Should we use a hotel ballroom or a tent for our wedding and reception?
With a tent you can pitch it almost anywhere you want. You pay for the tent and you will need to rent everything from sound system to the silver on your tables. Pay for delivery, setup, tear down and all to be taken away. You will be dealing with more vendors and making more decisions, all aside from the cost of it all. What about a generator, and the weather. Remember some details such as what will light the port-a-potties, may not be what you want to think about in planning your special day. Maybe using a hotel ballroom is a better idea!
If at the last minute the prospective groom calls off the wedding–who pays for say the bridesmaid dresses?
It certainly depends on how upset that everyone is and the type of wedding and the costs. How much grief the prospective groom receives and if he chooses to make and keep the peace. Real life is not like the movies, it’s hard work and you need to be a risk taker. Last minute decisions can be costly in dollars and emotions. Take your time and make sure you have made the right choice.
What type of topper should my wedding cake have?
Your wedding cake and topper should be a reflection of who you are as a couple. You could have your cake baker create sugar flowers, fondant ribbons or bows. Give your cake a personalized stamp of approval with a simple, silver monogram cake topper. Or you could adorn it with crystals for sparkle. Flowers are always a great option. Also there are ethnic/multi-racial, comical, vintage, castle, Harley Davidson motorcycle, animals, religious, country and western, glass, classic, beach, Celtic, Cinderella, NASCAR, seasonal, military, butterfly and traditional cake toppers. Remember when the party is over and the cake is gone you will have a keepsake treasure for years to come.
Is it okay for the bride to bake her own wedding cake?
Some brides do add the daunting task of making the wedding cake to their to-do list. The number of baker brides is few. The reasons for making the wedding cake are many: creative control, finances, no professional baker close by, a love of baking and decorating and most important is putting a personal imprint on the day. It is a stressful production with all other tasks that need completed. Some tips for the baker brides are: allow enough time, you need a backup, consider the season and the site, make sure you bake enough cake, transportation is crucial, and designate a knowledgeable friend to assemble the cake.
Do I Really Need to Have a Ring Bearer?
What if I don’t know any young boys? So do they really hold the rings?
If you have a godson, a nephew, or a family friend that you are close to, they do make a special addition to your wedding. If there is no ring bearer it is customary for the best man to hold the rings. Part of his duties are to slip the rings to the groom when it is time for the ring exchange. If your ring bearer is younger than five years old, you should tie “fake rings” onto the special pillow that you choose for him to carry. If he chooses to not go down the aisle, his role was only ceremonial and the best man has the rings.
