Couples imaginations trigger concepts of what type of wedding they would like to have and when. There are oh so many kinds, and we all remember the “Shotgun Wedding.” Some are simple and modest while others are very elaborate and flamboyant. Some couples make their wedding an event and not just a ceremony.
Wild West Wedding The couple and guests are in front of a justice of the peace. Everyone is decked out in old west attire, including the guests. The place for such an event would be a small remote town with wild west appeal. The wedding reception would be held on an old steam engine train. Find a place for your guests to stay. Have wanted posters (wanted for marriage) and have bounty hunters find the groom, and deliver him to the ceremony. The bounty hunters will collect from the bride, for the bounty. Let your
imagination fill in the blanks and special effects of what you want, or your view of what an old west wedding would be. Make it Wild West Wedding to be remembered.
A Season For Love Many couples choose a seasonal theme for their wedding. Decide what season you really like, and make it happen. Example, a
fall wedding is wonderful with all the colors and aromas to work with. On your tables, use brown runners, pumpkins and gold candles. Simple and elegant. In welcome bags for your out of town guests be sure to include some homemade food items, such as jams or a pumpkin butter. Do things because you really want to not because someone has told you “that is what you do at weddings.”
Destination Wedding or Not! You make plans to have a destination wedding in say Antigua. You think everything is set, and then due to an emergency you have to cancel. What to do? Try changing your
location not your entire theme! Incorporate Antigua elements into your local wedding. Use decor, food, flowers and other details native to that region, island or city in your wedding. Be creative, use imagination, all is not lost–just a change of scenery.
Tuscan Wedding Theme A wedding that is overlooking a vineyard country side. Where guests are greeted with hot wassail and hot cider, from a family recipe. A star studded night, under a gazebo to exchange your wedding vows. For your reception your guests are guided to the
wine barrel room, that has been lit with amber lights and fragrant candles.
Pool Side Wedding (in the
summer time) Pool side weddings can be either a day time or night time event. For a day time–add playful touches, such as inflatable toys in the pool, and serve ice cream sundaes. At night–use lights to reflect across the water, or float candles in the pool. You might rent fire pits (if your venue doesn’t have them) and let your guests roast marshmallows. Use the stars above as a romantic “ceiling.” Always put safety first, hire a professional lifeguard,(to be on duty at all times). Go barefoot, setup cabanas, offer frozen drinks, even hire synchronized swimmers for a show. Or stage a walkway or bridge over the water and say “I Do” in the middle. Summers hot wedding trend is all about the pool.
No Stress–Just Modern Technology!! No time-lines, or exhausting details to finish. You’ve decided to get married this weekend. No problem, you call moms and dads, to make sure they can make it, and send out text messages and email to your close friends and other family members. Just state you are getting married, to stay tuned for updates. Then you call and rent a local lounge or restaurants banquet room. Buy a dress and suit, let the brides mom or close friend arrange for flowers, get a marriage license, confirm your location and then inform your guests of the time and place. Instant (almost) wedding! It’s okay and easy to use technology especially in this day and age. It’s better for the environment and cheaper than more traditional methods. Just make sure that everyone you are sending these electronic messages to, uses that technology!!
